Grief and Bereavement Counselling | Online & Wexford

Grief is heavy, but you're not alone

When you’re grieving, everything can feel heavier - even reaching out for help. Grief therapy offers a safe, compassionate space to process what’s happened and find ways to cope, at your own pace.

What grief feels like

Grieving affects everyone differently. Some people feel intense sadness or anger, while others go numb or feel nothing at all. However it shows up, the grieving process can be overwhelming - especially when you’re coping with grief on your own. These emotional and physical symptoms are a normal response to loss.

  • Numbness, denial, or shock

  • Intense sadness or tearfulness

  • Anger, guilt, or regret

  • Difficulty sleeping or changes in appetite

  • Trouble concentrating or feeling disconnected

  • Waves of emotion that seem to come out of nowhere

  • Feeling alone, even around others

  • Physical aches, fatigue, or restlessness

These reactions are part of how we process grief - but that doesn’t mean they’re easy to live with. If you’re finding it hard to cope, grief counselling can help you make sense of what you’re feeling and find support through the loss.

How grief therapy can help

Grief can feel isolating - especially when people around you seem to have moved on, or don’t know what to say. Whether your loss is recent or something you’ve carried for a long time, grief counselling offers a space to be heard, supported, and gently guided through the healing process.

In bereavement therapy, we can work together to:

Process what’s happened at your own pace

Talk openly about your loss without pressure or judgment

Understand complex or unexpected feelings like anger, guilt, or relief

Reconnect with your needs and make space for them

Navigate life after loss — especially when everything feels different

Find small steps forward, even when things still feel heavy

Build emotional resilience over time

If in-person therapy doesn’t suit your schedule or location, online grief support offers the same level of care and connection - from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

FAQs about grief and bereavement counselling

Find answers to common questions about coping with grief and loss and how we might work together.

How long is each therapy session?

Each session lasts 50 minutes. This gives us enough time to gently explore what you’re going through without feeling rushed. Sessions can be online or in-person - whatever works best for you.

What if therapy doesn’t feel right for me?

That’s completely okay. Starting grief counselling can feel like a big step, and sometimes it takes a few sessions to know if it’s the right fit. You’re under no pressure to continue if it doesn’t feel supportive for you.

Do you offer online bereavement counselling?

Yes, I offer online therapy for grief and loss. It’s a flexible, secure way to access support from the comfort of your own space - especially helpful if you’re not based in Wexford or if travelling feels hard right now.

What happens in the first grief counselling session?

Your first session is a gentle starting point. You don’t need to have the words - we go at your pace. I’ll ask a few questions to understand what’s been happening, and you can share as much or as little as you like.

How can therapy help with grief and loss?

Grief therapy doesn’t take the pain away — but it can help you carry it. Together, we create a space where you can feel what you’re feeling, make sense of what’s changed, and begin to find your way forward.

Is there a right time to start grief therapy?

There’s no perfect time. Some people reach out soon after a loss. Others wait months or even years. If you’re struggling, feeling stuck, or just want someone to talk to -  that’s a good enough reason to begin.

What if I feel numb or like I can’t cry?

This is more common than people think. The grieving process looks different for everyone - you don’t need to cry or feel a certain way for your loss to be valid. Therapy gives you space to explore how it’s showing up for you.

Does grief ever really go away?

Grief changes, but it doesn’t vanish. Over time, many people find the pain becomes less sharp. In bereavement therapy, we’re not trying to erase your grief - we’re working to help you live alongside it, with more ease and meaning.

Can bereavement therapy help with long-term grief?

Yes. If it’s been a while since your loss and you still feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, bereavement counselling can help. There’s no expiry date on grief - it’s never too late to seek support.

Do I need a referral to start grief counselling?

No referral is needed. You can reach out directly to book a free call or your first session — whether you’re exploring grief counselling in Wexford or looking for online bereavement therapy.
